Connecting to CLASSE Networks

A large variety of networks are provided in CLASSE buidings. These networks vary from isolated research based networks to networks that are reachable from the internet. The most notable networks are LNS Protected and CLASSE Public,

LNS Protected
  • LNS Protected is a restricted network for non-research computers, laptops, personal devices, cellphones, etc.
  • Wired (ethernet) connections are available in most CLASSE-IT supported buildings.
  • Wifi is only available in:
    • Wilson Lab: L0, CESR tunnel, Sector 7, East and Center modules
    • Newman Lab: high-bay area in basement
  • Devices must be registered before using this network. Please fill out this registration form.

CLASSE Public
  • CLASSE Public is a wired network that is available to CLASSE-managed desktops only.
  • Wired (ethernet) connections are available in most CLASSE-IT supported buildings.
  • Wifi is not available.
  • Reachable from non-CLASSE networks.

Special arrangements must be made for connecting data acquisition equipment. Please contact the CLASSE IT group when you are considering obtaining networked data acquisition equipment so we can help plan for it.

Please contact the CLASSE IT group if you have to move your computer, whether to a different room or to a new location in your office.
