Capturing Problems on Windows 7

Windows 7 has a built in problem reporting tool that may help you report a problem in a service request. If you are doing something on your computer and get an unexpected result, you may try this to speed up our responses.

How to use Problem Reporter

Press the Windows Key + R at the same time. Then type in psr.exe and press enter.

Best workflow to help the CLASSE Computer Group make use of your report

  1. Go to the Desktop.
  2. Run Problem reporter as above.
  3. Click "Start Record".
  4. Do whatever steps cause the problem you are submitting a ticket for.
  5. Use the "Add Comment" feature to specify any command line or keyboard input that is necessary to reproduce the problem. (Problem Reporter does not log keyboard input, so you have to include it by using "Add Comment".) You can also provide details on what you are doing with this feature.
  6. When done, click "Stop Record". It will ask you to save a zip file.
  7. Take the saved file and e-mail it to the service request. If it is over 1MB, instead of attaching it to the ticket, please save it on \\samba\tem and reference the path to the file in the ticket so we can access it.
