Wi-fi access -- provided by Cornell, not CLASSE

• If you are visiting from an eduroam institution, log in with your home institution credentials.
• Otherwise, use your Cornell NetID (not CLASSE account).

CLASSE computer account

• Your CLASSE account is different from your Cornell account. Your CLASSE account is for CLASSE computers, internal lab webpages, and other CLASSE services.
• In most cases, the usernames are the same, but you must use different passwords.

CLASSE managed desktops

• Leave your computers on all the time so they can receive automatic updates, typically early Tuesday morning. Updates may trigger an automatic reboot, so save your work Monday evening.
• Administrative access is restricted. Please submit a service request if you have a specific software need -- we will be happy to discuss options with you.

Central storage for files

• Put your files on our networked file storage (a.k.a. samba or central storage):

  • Most files on central storage are backed up nightly.
• Ask your supervisor for the appropriate location.
• Files stored on your local system (or personal laptop) are not backed up!
  • On Linux systems, most files are created on central storage by default.
• If you lose a file, or want to verify which areas are backed up, please submit a ServiceRequest.

Printing

• We have about 25 active printers to choose from. Check your printer selection before printing!

We see fraudulent emails every day, and they can be quite sophisticated, even appearing to come from someone you know. Make sure you are on a Cornell website before typing in your Cornell password. When in doubt:
