As
previously announced, the 11x17 printer in Wilson 320 (chesstrailer_ricoh_ap610n) has been retired. For general-purpose 11x17 printing in Wilson Lab, please use the Xerox printer in Wilson 229 (W229_XRX_7800) or the Konica printer outside of Wilson 286 (chsr_konica_c308). For a complete list of CLASSE printers, please see the
PrinterList. If you have any questions or concerns, please submit a

Anaconda on Linux: Don't Initialize
If you are setting up a personal installation of Anaconda Python on CLASSE Linux systems, we strongly urge you to decline the installer's prompt to "initialize Anaconda by running conda init". If you allow Anaconda to run "conda init", it will silently update your .bashrc login script, which often has unintended consequences (including not being able to log in). To properly install Anaconda, please refer to
our recommendations on the
LinuxSoftwareDevelopment wiki page, or submit a
ServiceRequest.
[PSA] Patch Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge Browsers
The Cornell IT Security Office has issued an urgent notice regarding a zero-day vulnerabiity in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers for Windows, macOS, and Linux. CLASSE personnel who have installed Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on their personal or CLASSE systems are strongly urged to update their browsers as soon as possible with patches given here:
https://itservicealerts.hosting.cornell.edu/view/6780.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
