Farm Subnet Maintenance - Tuesday 13-Apr-2021 @ 10:00AM
On Tuesday, 13-Apr-2021 @ 10:00AM, we will be performing minor maintenance on the networking for the CLASSE Compute Farm. Although we don’t expect this to interrupt running jobs, we’ve temporarily paused the queueing system to stop executing new jobs until after the maintenance. Please submit a
ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.
CHESS Filesystem Maintenance - Tuesday 13-Apr-2021 @ 11:00AM
On Tuesday, 13-Apr-2021 @ 11:00AM, the CHESS User, Aux, and Scratch filesystems will be unavailable for up to one hour. This maintenance is required to expand the raw filesystem.
LNS Protected Reorganization
As
previously announced, we are continuing with our LNS Protected reorganization to improve the security and availability of our computers and devices. The remaining steps only involve CLASSE equipment and embedded devices (not laptops, phones, tablets, etc.). Although in most cases this change will be transparent, we will attempt to notify you if your assigned IP address and DNS name will change.
Leave computers on and connected to VPN each Monday night
To ensure package and configuration updates are applied, please leave all CLASSE managed computers plugged in, turned on, and connected to the CLASSE VPN at the close of business each Monday. Please also reboot your computer each Tuesday morning after 8:00 AM.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
