Upcoming Compute Farm Outage
In approximately two weeks, there will be a power outage in the Wilson Lab East Module, which will affect the
CLASSE Compute Farm (among other services). Compute nodes will be unavailable for one day, and job submission will be disabled for two additional days beforehand. The exact timing of the power outage is yet to be determined, and we will post more details in next week's newsletter.
PSB/Clark AV Upgrade
In the past month, the
audio/video team at CIT has upgraded the AV equipment in the Physical Sciences Complex's general-use conference rooms: PSB-120, PSB-401, Clark 700, and Clark 701. These rooms are not maintained by CLASSE-IT, so any questions about their use should be directed to
Physical Sciences Complex Facilities Services.
Note that the PSB conference rooms maintained by CLASSE-IT are PSB-301, PSB-308, and PSB-470, and instructions for their use can be found
here.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
