Full X2Go Client on CLASSE Managed Windows computers
We are deploying the full X2Go Client on all CLASSE Managed Windows computers this week. This will allow you to use X2Go to connect to all the Linux computers that had X2Go Server installed recently.
X2Go Client will pick up the "CLASSE GRID 2" session if you've ever run that program, and you can seamlessly upgrade the version of X2Go you're using by launching that and selecting "LinuxChooser".
August is license renewal time
Licenses CLASSE has obtained through Cornell's Software Licensing Service (LabView, Mathematica, Matlab) renew this month. Most Mathematica and Matlab licenses are network licenses; the Computer Group will update the license server that serves these licenses this month. If all goes well, that update process will be seamless. Standalone and home-use licensed will have to be updated individually - please send email to
service-classe@cornell.edu if you use a standalone or home-use license and you need help getting it updated.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
