Possible delays in response June 5-9
The week of June 5-9 will be a busy one for CLASSE-IT, with summer students arriving at the same time as the CBB Collaboration Meeting and the CHESS Users' Meeting (among other events that week). Please plan ahead, and be prepared for possible delays in our response time during this week. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.
Summer Usage of Public Terminal Rooms
Because of the unusually large number of summer students at CLASSE this year, many participants in the REU, SRCCS, and SUNRiSE programs will be housed in the public terminal rooms in Wilson Lab (room 315), Newman Lab (room 323), and the Physical Sciences Building (room 361). This week, we will be labeling and assigning computers to individual students based on the requirements of their projects. The students will be arriving in two waves on 05-Jun-2017 and 12-Jun-2017. Therefore, please do not use these labeled computers until mid-August. Any remaining unassigned computer is available for general use. If you find these remaining computers to be insufficient, please let us know.
Two-Step Login: Unblocking Accounts
On 20-Apr-2017, Two-Step Login accounts were created for everyone who receives a Cornell paycheck but had not yet started using the campus two-factor authentication service. If you have trouble using Two-Step Login after being automatically enrolled, please contact the Cornell IT Service Desk at
itservicedesk@cornell.edu. If it is not feasible for you to work with the Cornell IT Service Desk, the CLASSE IT Security Liaison will be able to make a request on your behalf. Please submit a
ServiceRequest for assistance.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
