Blocked email attachments
Starting today, Cornell's email system will block attachments of file types that are frequently used to distribute malware. For a complete list of file types, as well as alternative methods for transferring such files, please see

Possible delays in response June 6-10
The week of June 6-10 will be a busy one for CLASSE-IT, with summer students arriving during the
CHESS Users' Meeting and three simultaneous
CHESS-U Workshops. Please plan ahead, and be prepared for possible delays in our response time during this week. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
Network reorganization this summer
During this summer down, we will be undertaking a major reorganization of the CLASSE networks, which will include an upgrade to the wireless network infrastructure in the CESR tunnel, as well as a merger of the CHESS networks with those of the rest of CLASSE. More details on network interruptions and performance enhancements will appear in future newsletters.
Please use Firefox for CLASSE web services
There is a wide variety of web browsers to choose from these days, but we recommend Firefox for use with CLASSE web services (such as the wiki and ELOG). We have found that when logging in with CLASSE credentials, other browsers like Internet Explorer and Chrome may interact unpredictably with the way we perform web authentication. For example, one may be asked to log in multiple times, or one may not be able to connect to at all. Firefox is the officially supported browser at CLASSE.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
