Compute farm outage, Dec. 9-11
In order to upgrade the network connection between the compute farm and the central file systems, we will disable the
GridEngine queues at 10 AM on December 9, to be re-enabled at 2 PM on December 11. Please plan accordingly. Jobs that were started before the queues are paused on the 9th will be allowed to finish. Jobs that are waiting to start before the queues are paused will remain in the queues and will start on December 11. If you have any questions or concerns please submit a
ServiceRequest.
Powering computers off for the holidays: Please DON'T!
Please leave your desktop computer powered on over the Thanksgiving holidays so that any necessary updates can happen. You can turn off its display, though.
MInimal computer group coverage
Although there will be some computer support staff in town, many will be leaving town on Wednesday or earlier. Response times might not be as expeditious as usual.
Have a happy holiday!
And relax.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
