Running Microsoft Teams on CLASSE-managed Windows Computers

Microsoft has retired the Classic Teams app and users are expected to switch to New Teams. Unfortunately, Microsoft has not built the New Teams app for the version of Windows 10 that is currently deployed on CLASSE-managed Windows computers. For now, Windows users will need to use Teams via the web to access the New Teams client. Microsoft Teams can be installed as a Progressive Web App with Vivaldi for a similar experience to the desktop client.

How to install Microsoft Teams as a stand-alone web app

  1. Open Vivaldi and go to teams.microsoft.com
  2. Sign in with your Cornell email address and password
  3. Microsoft Teams will open in a browser tab
  4. Right-click on the browser tab
  5. Select “Install Microsoft Teams…” from the drop down menu (It may be necessary to scroll down in the menu)
  6. A new dialogue box will appear
  7. Click on “Install”

This will add Microsoft Teams in the Start Menu and add it as a shortcut to the desktop
