Autodesk 2020 Upgrade: Monday, 27-Jan-2020 @ 3:00 PM

On Monday, 27-Jan-2020, at 3:00 PM, we will begin migrating Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault) to the Autodesk 2020 Design Suite. Instructions for Autodesk users are being communicated via the CLASSE Inventor mailing list. If you have not received any Autodesk announcements from this mailing list, please submit a ServiceRequest or contact Tim O'Connell.

Default Browser on Windows

Beginning Tuesday, 21-Jan-2020, the default browser setting on CLASSE-managed Windows computers will no longer be automatically reset to Firefox by our management software. Therefore, if you choose VivaldiBrowser as your default browser, that setting should be persistent. Please submit a ServiceRequest if you find otherwise. Also note that, in the future, since the default browser is not centrally managed, newly deployed Windows computers will have their default browsers set to Internet Explorer, which is NOT supported by CLASSE-IT.

Please Reboot Linux Computers

As mentioned in the previous CLASSE-IT newsletter, please reboot your Scientific Linux 7 computers at your convenience to pick up the latest Linux kernel and drivers.

General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our NewsLetter and via CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.

Unless other arrangements have been made, CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see SystemExpectations.
