GitLab Update: Tuesday, 29-Jun-2021 @ 10:30 AM
On Tuesday, 29-Jun-2021, at 10:30 AM, there will be a brief 5-10 minute outage of the
CLASSE GitLab while it is being updated. Please submit a
ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns.
Windows Firefox Uninstallation: Tuesday, 13-Jul-2021
As previously announced,
Vivaldi has now replaced
Firefox as the primary web browser on CLASSE computers. Therefore, on Tuesday, 13-Jul-2021, we will remove the CLASSE version of Firefox from CLASSE-managed Windows computers. However, if you need to continue using Firefox, you may install a user-managed version by following
these instructions. CLASSE Linux and Mac computers will not be affected at this time. Please submit a
ServiceRequest with any questions or concerns. In particular, please notify us of any job-related websites that still require Firefox, so that we can attempt to reproduce your problem and work towards a solution.
Cornell Strategic Storage Initiative
Over the next few years, some external storage vendors used by CLASSE personnel (such as Box) will stop offering free unlimited storage to Cornell University. Therefore, CIT has established a strategic initiative to plan for this upcoming change. CIT also recommends that personnel who use Cornell-contracted cloud storage begin to review their storage needs and available options. We will share more details about this initiative as they become available. For now, please see CIT's full announcement
here.
General network and server maintenance will occur every Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. The CLASSE-IT group will always announce any expected disruptions in our
NewsLetter and via
CLASSE-IT-NEWS-L, but with the size and complexity of our network there is always the potential for something to go wrong. We will do our best to contain all network maintenance and planned outages to Tuesdays from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Unless other arrangements have been made,
CLASSE-managed Windows systems may be updated and rebooted on Tuesday morning at 2:00 AM, so please avoid critical or lengthy operations at that time. For more details, please see
SystemExpectations.
